"A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings"

This short story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is, to say the least, an interesting one. It makes one think about the borders that being different set up between us in our society. When the old man with wings appears in a normal backyard, he grows to become a point of fascination for the townsfolk. They gawk at him and sell the townsfolk tickets to come see this strange and winged man. It resembles a time in our own history. A time of freak shows and oddball circuses. In the end, the man flies away. "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" is a good example of magical realism and a fine short story that is worth the read.
